| Company Description |
Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd. was set-up 1985 at Potenga Chittagong. Total land area
43.27 acres. It has facilities of Dry Docking and repair of seagoing vessels upto 16,500
DWT, on board repair facilities for trawlers / coastal vessels etc. also for
manufacturing of portable steel bridges, trucks, sluice gate, steel tower and other
various heavy steel structures. It is provided with Plate Bending Roller, Welding machine,
Lathe, Drilling M/S, Power Saw, Milling, Grinding, Press, Cutting, Soldering,
Compressor, Fork lift and various Testing & Checking Equipments. |
History of the Company |
The project work has started in 1967. In 1971 the project work stopped due to liberation
war. After independence the project work restarted after revival and revalidation
of the agreement with Yougoslave Govt. and their firms M/S. PIM and Brodimeks.
In 1978 a new dock was integrated for construction of seagoing vessels in place of a
slipway with a plan to construct three vessels of 16,500 DWT in two years and carry
out docking of 30 vessels and repair 50 vessels a year. Later on, due to financial
constraint the project dock was not constructed.
Though finnaly implemented in 1985 the plant actually started its operation in 1981
after the commissioning of the gracing dock. |
| Operational Structure |
Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd. is a job type industry. Types of job done are ship repair with
Dry Docking, Afloat repair, Heavy structure works & Misc. works. As per requirement
ships are dry docked & necessary repair & maintenance works are done and after
inspection jobs are decliered. During repair workshop facilities are used. Heavy steel
fabrication & Misc. works are done in shops. |

| Organisation |
The limited company with authorised capital of TK. 100.00 core and paid up capital of
TK. 71.05 core divided 7,104,520 no. of ordinary shares of TK. 100.00 each. The
Company is run by a Board Of Directors appointed by Govt. under Company Act.
Operation of Company is controlled by a Managing Director appointed by BSEC.
(Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation). He is also a Director of the Company Board. |
